Early Surrealist carved Koa wood vase with a hand form "holding" the vessel. Early 20th century dada works by those such as Marcel Duchamp would have certainly found kinship in the concept(s) behind this work by Len Brown.
Len Brown was a descendant of one of the H.M.S. Bounty crewmen who mutinied and settled on Pitcairn island (South Pacific). His carved Koa sculptures are quite prized and rarely available.
