There are, what we would consider to be, minor condition issues that are completely in keeping with its age and are captured in the photographs. One feature worth noting, and another indication that this is a country bespoke piece are the filler triangle pieces of wood on both sides. The left side has one small triangle piece on the front edge right under the top overhang, and the right side has three pieces, of different sizes across the bottom. They all look original and not like repairs that were done later. In our estimation all the boards of proper length and width needed to complete this piece were not available so pieces were attached to them in order to be able to complete this piece. One might even imagine that this was done by the cabinet maker himself for his own personal use and, therefore, might have used leftover pieces of wood from previous orders. Whatever the reason, it makes for a good subject for speculation. less
