The hardcover Pop Art book is published by Rizzoli International Publishers Inc., printed in Italy in 2018. It features a monograph survey of the Pop Art artworks of Richard Bernstein. Authored by Roger and Mauricio Padilha, foreword by Grace Jones, afterword by Jean-Paul Goude.
This book is an exploration of the work of the American artist Richard Bernstein that celebrates his glamorous, iconic, and larger than life portraits for the covers of Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine, as well as a treasure trove of sensational photography, his rarely seen visually arresting fine art, graphically striking album covers, behind-the scenes photos of his glitzy subjects and parties, and editorial work he created from the 1960's to 1990's. Complete with intimate anecdotes and 28 interviews with his closest friends and collaborators. This volume is an essential addition to any fashion, Pop culture, style or art lover's library.
Richard Bernstein ( 1939 - 2002 ) a fixture at Studio 54 and with fashion and art insiders, captured the allure of the disco era through his iconic hyper-colored graphic portraits of superstars for the covers of Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine. Bernstein's bold and graphic artwork was so complimentary to Warhol's that it was often thought that Warhol created the covers himself. yet is was Bernstein, an American artist and art director, whose distinctive craft of embellishing photographs with pastels, stencils, and airbrushing, monumentalized his subjects into dazzling larger than life Pop Art incarnations of themselves, captivating, iconic and forever young.
The rare out of print large format hardcover Pop Art book measures 10 3/8" W X 13 1/4" H X 3/4" D, with 176 pages. It features more than 400 illustrations, including 250 in full color.
