Rare vintage Turkish runner from Kars, 5.6x12.6 ft. Handwoven with undyed wool and red geometric medallions. Professionally cleaned and ready to style.
A striking vintage 1970s Turkish runner rug from the Kars region of Eastern Anatolia, this hand-knotted masterpiece showcases the perfect harmony between natural wool tones and vivid tribal geometry.
Measuring 5 ft 6 in x 12 ft 6 in (66 x 150 inches), the rug was woven by villagers for their own homes — never used, chest-stored, and now beautifully preserved. Its large diamond medallions in shades of red and gray rest on a warm brown field, flanked by a traditional floral border in beiges and subtle oranges.
The brown, gray, beige, and black hues are completely undyed, reflecting the natural tones of Anatolian sheep wool. The brighter pigments — crimson, yellow, and pink — were extracted from vegetable dyes, a testament to Turkey’s enduring craft heritage.
This one-of-a-kind rug embodies the raw authenticity and charm of Kars weaving, combining folk symbolism with minimal geometric precision. Perfect for both modern rustic and mid-century interiors, it creates an inviting, earthy statement in any space.
Professionally washed and cleaned, it is completely odorless and ready to grace your home.

What is a Hand-Knotted Turkish Rug? The Pinnacle of Textile Artistry
Each Turkish hand-knotted rug is a labor of devotion and cultural continuity. Crafted entirely by hand, every knot is individually tied using the Gördes double-knot technique, creating unmatched durability and texture.
These rugs are the culmination of centuries of Anatolian artistry — woven stories told through wool, dye, and design. They symbolize endurance, protection, and beauty — qualities that allow them to transcend function and become true works of art.
Owning such a rug means preserving a fragment of living history, handwoven by artisans whose skills have been passed down for generations.
