The set is encrusted with geometric wood pieces … Read more Very beautiful Japanese jewelry cabinet in marquetry Yosegi-Zaiku composed of six drawers. The set is encrusted with geometric wood pieces and decorated with patterns resembling kamon (clan or Japanese family weapons). The foot of the furniture is covered with a cork veneer. The marquetry technique Yosegi Zaiku appeared in Japan in the second half of the 19th century, and was used to decorate the Himitsu-Bako secret boxes, but was also used to decorate many other craft objects such as trays, jewelry , chests \. This technique consists in cutting different types of wood and assembling them, the differences in color allowing to create patterns. This precious little cabinet dates from the second half of the 19th century, beginning of the Meiji period. See less
