The subject matter are flowers and leaves and everything is done by hand. The colors are neutral and subtle and the design is organic and underplayed. It has an almost primitive Volk Art appeal to it. It was made sometime between 1950-70, presumably in Morocco, where its materials definitely is from. There are some resemblance to Beni Ourain pieces but in your opinion this rug, that was bought at a closed Catholic Monastary in Denmark, has more to it. Some of Elsa Gullberg's earlier designs comes to mind. But it is very difficult to say. Measurements: 126x92 cm. See less
