A lovely porcelain hand-painted plate from Porzellanfabrik Krautheim, lavishly decorated with brilliant orange poppies and green leaves and gold trim around the rim. Porzellanfabrik Krautheim was in Selb, Bavaria (no Germany or Franconia on the mark), and my guess for the date of manufacture would be the early 1930s.
This elegant plate measures 8 inches wide across the rim. It is in very good to excellent condition, with nice colors and designs, and no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines, or crazing. Amazingly, there is very little wear, and the gold trim is very solid. The painted surface has no signs of scratches or wear that I can see.
The bottom of the bowl has a crown logo for "Krautheim / Selb Bavaria." This mark was used between 1922 and 1945. There is also a black hand-written name Helen Merten, who I assume was the painter. less
