Work in polychrome earthenware of Quimper, realized by Robert Micheau-Vernez (1907-1989) for the Henriot factory in the middle of the XXth century.
Statuary Breton, sculptor and ceramist, Micheau-Vernez is a recognized artist, graduate of the fine arts of Nantes, Rennes and Paris. He is above all an outstanding colorist and was praised for his immense contribution to the Henriot earthenware factory for 30 years.
This group represents a couple of young Bretons dancing in unison. Dressed in traditional clothes, these characters with blond hair seem cheerful. The man holds a hat in his left hand and the woman wears a bonnet. Her blue and white dress is strewn with flowers, contrasting with the strong colors of her companion's uniform.
Testimony of a forgotten era, this work, signed on the terrace by the artist and annotated -Henriot Quimper- on the underside, is a reassuring and joyful image that combines tradition and modernity with its attractive colors.
