Add a touch of Chicago history to your decor with this classic and charming silver soldered Stevens Hotel teapot with the rearing lion marking. The rearing lion emblem is seeing throughout the hotel now known as the Chicago Hilton. This charming piece once served many clients in the early years who stayed at the amazing Stevens Hotel designed in the classic Beaux-Arts style. When the doors opened in 1927 it was proclaimed the largest and most opulent hotel in the world until the 1960s and cost an astronomical 27 million dollars to build at the time. The stylish and lavishly decorated hotel drew many presidents, famous diplomats, dignitaries and celebrities throughout it's early days and still continues to do so. This iconic architectural gem still stands proudly on Chicago's Magnificent Mile and remains a testament to those glorious days long gone by.
The teapot is in very good antique condition with normal wear from age and use and has a nice uniform patina. Marked on the underside as shown.
