Woven in the Oushak region of Western Turkey in the 1970s, this large village kilim transforms classic “baklava” diamond geometry into a bold, contemporary-feeling statement piece. The tightly executed flat weave and all-over lattice of stepped diamonds give strong visual structure, so even with its saturated reds, blues, and jewel-toned accents, the rug reads ordered and architectural rather than busy. It sits beautifully in generous living rooms or dining areas, especially alongside neutral furniture and natural woods.
The composition is framed by a vibrant multicolor border, with creamy ivory diagonals cutting through deep grounds to keep the design bright and open. The rug is in vintage unused condition with a strong handle and excellent, dense weave. As with any genuine handwoven village piece, it is not a perfectly machine-rectangular carpet and shows small natural irregularities along the edges, all visible in the photos. It has been professionally cleaned, is completely odorless, and is ready to lay directly in your space for daily use.

✨ Color Palette & Design Insight
This kilim has a confident, gallery-worthy palette that anchors a room with rich color while still feeling harmonious and grounded. It pairs especially well with light walls, warm woods, and both modern and eclectic furniture, making it a versatile centerpiece for living rooms, dining rooms, and creative studio spaces.
• Deep madder red and wine tones defining the main diamonds and outlines
• Layered teal, turquoise, and denim blues stepping through the diamond centers
• Warm creamy ivory diagonals that brighten the field and break up the color blocks
• Plum, purple, and magenta accents adding a jewel-like glow near the ends and borders
• Small flashes of saffron, mustard, and tangerine in the central star details
• Charcoal, midnight navy, and near-black grounds sharpening the overall contrast
✨ Motifs & Symbolism
The field is built from interlocking hooked diamonds arranged in an endless lattice, a classic Anatolian “baklava” layout associated with protection, continuity, and the interconnectedness of family and home. Each diamond is made of stepped, serrated bands that echo water and mountain motifs, traditionally linked to life, movement, and resilience. Tiny star-like centers and cross forms suggest light, guidance, and good fortune, while the outer chain of multicolor triangles frames the composition as a protective border. The result is a visually rhythmic, energetic rug that still feels stable and grounding underfoot.
