In 1838, trader David Haviland established a ceramic and porcelain importing company in New York. In 1842, David Haviland made Limoges, the world's porcelain capital, the cradle of infinite art. He began to write the story of the de Havilland family, a name that has survived to this day and is synonymous with French luxury art.
In 1842, fascinated by Limousin 'white gold', he crossed the Atlantic to settle in Limoges, where he established his own manufacturer WHICH IS THE LARGEST ONE IN FRANCE AND EMPLOYED 5000.. Limoges porcelain has experienced an unprecedented bloom, and David de Haviland is known the world over for his innovative vision and creative genius. In 1853 he won a gold medal at the Crystal Palace Exhibition in New York, and the French government subsequently awarded him a silver medal at the Paris Universal Exposition in 1855 in recognition of his talent.
The greatest royal families and heads of state from around the world have succumbed to the fascination and extraordinary prestige of this porcelain. These include Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, President Jacques Chirac, Prince Rainier of Monaco, and Presidents Roosevelt and Lincoln, among others. For more than 175 years, Maison Haviland has dedicated itself to French excellence, elevating the finest restaurants in the world's most distinguished palaces, such as the Ritz Paris, the Dorchester London, the Shangri-La Paris。
The marks CFH/GDM of these dish set was short form of Charles Field Haviland and back marked on Haviland's Limoges porcelain C 1882 . It has been over 141 years and incredibly maintain such perfect condition. It is rare to find .
