The agricultural comices (or agricultural shows) were organized in France from the 19th century. They allowed farmers in a region to come together to discuss their cropping and livestock practices. They were also an opportunity to organize cattle parades and competitions. This plaque was probably an award given on this occasion. There is a farmer milking a cow, who herself is licking her calf.
