Created in Sweden during the third quarter of the 19th century, this console table showcases the stylistic characteristics of the Gustavian era. The table features a rectangular top sitting above a delicately carved apron accented with a rosette flanked with foliage in the front. The back is sans décor, the table will therefore benefit from being placed against a wall. The ensemble is raised on four tapered legs with fluted motifs, topped with carved rosettes on the knees. The table is painted in a soft color with nicely distressed patina, typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark and long Scandinavian winters.
