josep guinovart i bertran (march 20, 1927 in barcelona - 12 december 2007 in barcelona) was a spanish painter famous especially for his informal and abstract works.
in 1941 he began working as a decorator.
three years later she begins her studies at the escuela de artes y oficios de la llotja (llotja's art school), where she remained until 1946.

he exhibited for the first time in 1948 at the galerías syla in barcelona.
in 1951 he made his first engravings entitled "tribute to federico garcía lorca".
two years later, he received a scholarship from the french institute to study in paris for nine months.
here he discovers the cubist works of matisse and picasso and travels to belgium, holland and germany.

on his return to barcelona, ​​after a period of work as an illustrator and scenographer, around 1957 he began to orient himself towards abstract art.
his work is highly unconventional and usually on a large scale, using a wide range of materials, three -dimensional objects and organic substances such as egg shell, land and straw.
in 1962 he illustrated a book of poems entitled posies by joan salvat-papasseit for the publisher ariel. In the seventies and eighties he obtained numerous awards for his work, including the spanish national prize for the plastics in 1982.
