This is a lithograph of a bouquet of roses by John Edwards published in Paris in 1940. The lithograph is from the Collection de Douze Bouquets (1783-1793). The original collection of botanical plates dates to the late 1700’s and was “lost”. It was later rediscovered in the years prior to WWII at which time the lithographs were restruck from the original plates. This lithograph is one from the mid-century collection. The lithograph is strong and bold in color. It is printed on high quality paper and is clean and pristine. The flowers have a rich textural quality. The overall size is 12.5 x 16 inches; the interior size is 9.75 x 13.25 inches. See others in the collection.
