Born in Bordeaux, France in 1912, Rigaud studied under his father, the famous Impressionist painter Pierre Gaston Rigaud. He was further educated at the L' Ecole des Beaux Arts. He developed a refined and unique style, using his father's Impressionist techniques and including splashes of bold color and heavy impasto that hinted at expressionism and abstraction. Regularly exhibited, highly awarded, his works are included in dozens of the highest profile fine art museums and private collections.
Finally, his inclusion in the official encyclopedia of European masters establishes Rigaud as a truly a sought-after French master. His works at auction regularly bring five-figure sums.
This brilliant work is exciting, unusual, mixing Impressionism and dynamic modernism in one work. Excellent condition, may be dated on verso but we haven't removed from frame to check.
