The Impressionist poster print is published by The Art Group Limited, printed in England in the 1980's in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by Monet in 1916 titled " Nympheas " ( Water Lillies ), Musee Marmottan, Paris.

Oscar Claude Monet ( 1840 - 1926 ) Was a French painter, a founder of French Impressionist painting a most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to Plein Air landscape painting. The term " Impressionism " is derived from the title of his painting " Impression, Soleil Levant " which was exhibited in 1874 in the first of the independent exhibitions mounted by Monet and his associates as an alternative to The Salon De Paris.

Monet's ambition of documenting the French countryside led him to adopt a method of painting the same scene many times in order to capture the changing light and the passing seasons. From 1883, Monet lived in Giverny, where he purchased a house and property and began a vast landscaping project which included lily ponds that would become the subjects of his best known works. Artworks by Monet are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The rare out of print Impressionist poster print measures 31 1/2" W X 21 7/8" H. It is printed on high quality heavyweight paper stock with a satin eggshell finish.

It is in very good vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and light to moderate surface wear in the margin border area. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
