Exceptional pieces of glass from Norway's Gjøvik Glassworks, circa 1820 (+/-).
These carafes or karaffels are handmade, free blown of an exquisite cobalt glass having a classic bottle form and featuring a subtle white/blue spiral stripe decor. A remarkable pair of survivors! Examples of these Gjøvik carafes can be found in the National Museum (Norway) and Norwegian Folk Museum.
These measure about 8.5"x 3.75". Both carafes are in excellent condition with negligible wear and age appropriate, heavy wear to the foot ring. No chips or cracks. Unmarked, undated.
