Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a light and dark shimmering copper silk brocade … Read more Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a light and dark shimmering copper silk brocade in a dragon and fenghuang medallions lattice pattern, signed, with a poem in caoshu script and numerous red seal marks in various sizes and shapes scattered about the top and bottom of the image. The image size is 25.25" wide x 50" high. With a dark copper silk makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll covering repeats the mounting brocade. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.

In the foreground, three fishermen on sampans ply the river between rocky , bouldered shores covered in winter trees and pines. The river continues, bending around a riverside hermitage nestled between large, rocky, forested outcrops. Marching away from the river shores at mid-ground, steep and massive, forested palisades ascend into the heavens in traditional Chinese aerial perspective. See less
