Crafted in France, circa 1890, the decorative ceramic piece is beautifully modeled in the shape of a traditional bagpipe, an instrument closely associated with the folk music and rural traditions of the Auvergne region in central France.

The sculptural wall pocket features an elegant, oversized blue ribbon bow in high relief at the top, with flowing ribbons extending over the rounded body. The bagpipe is further embellished with a molded chanter, colorful floral motifs, and intricate scrolling borders in a vibrant palette of cobalt blue, yellow, orange, and green against a creamy white background.

The center is decorated with a charming hand-painted pastoral scene depicting French villagers in traditional regional costumes, dancing to the music of a bagpiper. A small village church and rolling countryside complete the picturesque composition. The scene is inscribed "Noce en Auvergne," referring to a traditional wedding celebration in the region.

The antique faience piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining its rich colors and beautifully detailed decoration. The reverse bears a handwritten "Mont-Doré" inscription along with additional markings and is fitted with a hanging wire for easy installation. The open pocket makes it ideal for displaying dried flowers or simply as a decorative wall accent.
