Haas experienced a perceptual phenomenon called projective synesthesia. This gift (shared by other artists such as van Gogh and Billy Joel) was such that stimulation of one sensory pathway lead to automatic involuntary experiences in a second sensory pathway. Haas saw colors, shapes or forms when experiencing audio stimulation. This watercolor and mixed pigment painting on paper is a product of this gift. See less
