Signed and dated lower … Read more 1948 Nude Study of woman's back with sanquine and charcoal. Titled "Diana" by Carlo Taliabue (Italian/American). Signed and dated lower right corner. Titled upper right corner. Image size: 10.5H x 13.2"W. Presented in dark wood frame with double mat. Shipped without glass. Framed size: 23.5"H x 19.50"W x 1"D. Born in Cremona, Italy on March 26, 1894. Taliabue studied on a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Art in Milan. He immigrated to California in 1924 and lived in the Lincoln-Sacramento area until the late 1930s. At that time he settled in San Francisco where he produced statuary on Treasure Island for the Golden Gate International Exposition. During the 1940s his work won awards in the annuals of the Society for Sanity in Art at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. Primarily a sculptor, he also painted landscapes, still lifes, and a few portraits. Member: Society for Sanity in Art; Burlingame Art Society; Diablo AA (pres.).
