A fine and rare French polychrome Faience (glazed earthenware) covered jar made into a lamp and mounted on a gilded base. The jar is decorated with traditional French Country designs: fleurs-de-lys, scrolls and flower sprays in traditional colors: ochre, yellow, cobalt, sage green and a little bit of manganese purple. New linen shade with a large and heavy brass urn finial. Dates probably to the mid 19th century, two small areas of restoration under the lid (not eye-catching) and a stable hairline at the base, typical craquelure to the glazes, one surface flake.
