Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) The French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

This lithograph print features a Fauvist artwork image originally created by Matisse in 1911 titled " Artist's Studio ". The print is a page from an authentic vintage 1st edition portfolio of Matisse prints published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. Publishers, New York in association with Aurora Art Publishers, Leningrad, printed in The USSR in 1981.

The lithograph plate image is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached by hand to the page on the top and left side edge. There is unrelated text on the reverse back side of the page that refers to a different artwork image. This print is suitable for framing.

The print image measures 6 3/8" W X 11 1/8" H, on a page that is 9" W X 12 5/8" H. It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. See less
