Gorgeous earth-toned figurative watercolor painting of Monterey crab fishing by James Tazewell Hughins (American, 1922-2009), circa 1980. Signed lower right. Presented in a rustic wood shadow box frame. Image: 14"L x 10"H.
Hughins was born in California and raised in Santa Clara. He served as an official photographer in the U.S. Air Corps in the Philippines during World War II, where he documented many of the atrocities of war. In the '70s, Hughins became a commercial salmon fisherman and started painting.
