This Really is an Absolutely Beautiful - Very Fine Quality Original Matching Set of 6 Antique French Sterling Silver Grapefruit … Read more This Really is an Absolutely Beautiful - Very Fine Quality Original Matching Set of 6 Antique French Sterling Silver Grapefruit - Citrus - Fruit Spoons. Circa Mid to Late 19th Century. Each Spoon is Completely Hand Made by a Master Silversmith. They all Have Allover Gold Gilt - Gold Wash Surfaces - Front and Back. Classic Twist Style Handles have All Hand Chased Rose Flowers in Relief on a Finely Hand Engraved and "Engine Turned" Decorated Background with Wonderful Attention to Detail. Note that the Edges and Point on the Bowl are Slightly Sharpened for Grapefruit. They have an Assortment of Embossed Paris France Hallmarks. The Bowls have the Tiny French Diamond Cartouche Hallmark with a Makers Initials that are Illegible - I Could Not Identify ( See Last Photograph ). The Back of Each Spoon has the 2 Documented French Silver Marks - 1 is the "Large Guarantee Minerva 1 Head" Hallmark that Confirms The High Grade 950/1000 High Purity Silver Content. Sterling Silver (925) has a Slightly Lower 925/1000 Pure Silver Content. The Other Tiny Mark is the "Small Guarantee Boars Head". They Also Have the Added Documented French Small Guarantee "Weevil" ( Insect ) Hallmark on the Engraved Section Between the Spoon Bowl and Twist Handle but it is a Bit Obscured ( See Last Photograph ). The Combined 6 Piece Set has a Substantial Solid High Purity Silver Weight of 79.67 Grams / 2.561 Troy Ounces. The Set is in Very Nice All Original Condition with No Damage - No Repairs - Perfectly Usable - and They Display Beautifully. Note That There is Some Age - Polish and Use Wear to Some of The Gold - Gilt Surfaces.
Each Measures 6 7/8 inches Long. The Handles are 5/8 inch Wide and the Bowl End is 1 1/16 inches Wide.
