A unique and unusual cast bronze of a mythical animal known as a fon dog.
Bursting with character, this mythical decorative object would enhance any shelf or tabletop.
We acquired this from an auction house and it was stated to be from Benin, the bronze statues hand-crafted. This resembles similar objects that were created from the thirteenth century onwards, by the Edo people, which also included other sculptures in brass, including some famous portrait heads and smaller pieces of art. This piece is from the 20th Century.
Cast bronze.
Tribal African Art.
