Significant large oil portrait oil painting by listed American artist Parshall DeWitt (1864-1956)
DeWitt was known for his landscapes, obviously being such a distinguished artist, he was commissioned by notable persons to paint portraits of beloved ones. This painting is of that genre.
Parshall DeWitt born in Buffalo New York in 1864, graduated from Hobart College in 1885, leaving his native country to study at Royal Academy in Dresden, Germany. Later, he moved to Paris to further his studies. In 1917, DeWitt moved to Santa Barbara in California, living and working until his death in 1956
