Distressed Antique Chinese Peking Rug with Art Deco Chippendale Style 07'04 x 11'08. This hand-knotted wool distressed antique Chinese Peking rug features Art Deco style with an elaborate center medallion placed in an open field with complementary geometric spandrels reflecting Chinese Chippendale style. Elaborate and small florals are gracefully dancing around the medallion in the spacious composition. Enclosed by a symbolic border with repetitive motifs and incorporating Chinese numerology, this Chinese carpet uses the number five which represents the five elements of nature and linked to the positive idea of balance. This antique Peking rug celebrates the cultural traditions and legends of Chinese history. Rendered in variegated shades of tan, sand, glaucous, sky blue, coffee, brown, and other neutral colors.
