Antique Russian Caucasian Shirvan Rug Lesghi Star 03'05 X 04'09 . Based on traditional designs from the Caucasus region, this hand-knotted wool antique Caucasian Shirvan rug features three Lesghi Stars surrounded by classic Caucasian motifs representing protection, longevity and fertility. It is finished with a leaf and calyx style (wine glass) border flanked with two rosette borders and subsidiary guard bands composed of repeating Elibelinde motifs.
Abrash. Both ends haven been re-woven, some re-dying, and a couple of small repairs.
Age Wear. Hand-knotted wool. Rug No. 72858.
Made in Caucasus Region (Old Russia).
