Vintage Berber Moroccan Beni Ourain Rug 06'04 x 12'07. With its simplicity, plush pile and tribal style, this hand-knotted wool vintage Berber Beni Ourain Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. It features a diamond lattice composed of chevron lines running from top to bottom, creating a handsome lozenge trellis with a strong sense of dimensionality and a striking visual effect. Historical richness and full of Ancient Berber symbolism, this vintage Beni Ourain rug features traditional symbols of protection and femininity while the bands along the vertical sides traditionally represent the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs. This presentation can be seen as symbolizing fertility, as well as protection and the sanctuary of the family.
