With its simplicity, plush pile and tribal style, this hand knotted wool vintage Berber Beni Ourain Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. It features a diamond lattice composed of dark lines running from the top to the bottom crisscrossing in an organic manner, creating a handsome lozenge trellis with a strong sense of dimensionality and a striking visual effect. The diamond trellis is decorated with additional lozenges, x-shapes, burdocks, and ambiguous tribal symbols. It is enclosed with a thin border giving it a sense of order and definition. Historical richness and full of Ancient Berber symbolism, this vintage Beni Ourain rug features traditional symbols of protection and femininity while the rectangular bands along the vertical sides traditionally represent the male's presence.
