Embracing the essence of Pacific Northwest Design, this vintage Beni MGuild Moroccan rug seamlessly marries Midcentury Modern aesthetics with nomadic charm.
The vivid details of the open ended lozenge and the warm, spicy hues woven into this piece evoke the landscapes of Morocco and the aromatic spices found in the bustling Souks of Marrakech. Against an abrashed red backdrop, an enchanting open ended diamond lozenge takes center stage. Outlining the central diamond are chevron bands, adorned with a myriad of protective motifs. These symbols carry profound meaning, signifying good luck. protection against the evil eye, spirituality, fertility and womanhood. It is enclosed with an Elibelinde border and rosette guard band. The Classic Elibelinde motif, also known as the “hands on hips” or goddess motif, is thought to represent motherhood and fertility while ram’s horns represent masculinity and power. The fertility bereket motifs that appear combine the symbols of both man and woman, often referred to as ram’s Horn and hands-on-hips motifs, into one design with a diamond in the centre.
