A truly exceptional antique Italian Tuscan cabinet base, newly reimagined as a low credenza with a custom-cut Carrara marble top. This stunning piece—solid walnut construction throughout—was originally the base of a larger 17th-century cabinet, as indicated by the dealer's original Italian label on the back:
"TOSCANO Ep. XVII NOCE" (Tuscany, 17th century, Walnut) with a marked value of €5,000 (approximately $5,350 USD at current exchange rates).
The credenza features a symmetrical layout: two pairs of side doors flanking a central single door, offering a balanced, understated elegance typical of early Tuscan design. Inside, you'll find beautifully preserved vintage Florentine wallpaper—likely very old, possibly original—adding an unexpected and charming detail. There are no keys included, though the cabinet doors function well.
The new honed Carrara marble top elevates the piece, creating a bespoke blend of historic character and modern usability. Whether used as a living room credenza, entry console, or even in a kitchen or dining room, this piece radiates timeless Italian craftsmanship.
This piece closely resembles the iconic cabinetry found at Santa Maria Novella, the famed Florentine pharmacy and perfumery renowned for its exquisite 16th and 17th-century woodwork. The elegant simplicity and craftsmanship echo the historic designs seen there, making this credenza a rare and authentic reflection of Tuscan heritage.
