Painted carefully in a gorgeous wrap-around lotus … Read more Exceptional Chinese Porcelain Fish Bowl Planter, waisted form gently tapering to bottom rim. Painted carefully in a gorgeous wrap-around lotus pond scene in rich colourful enamels, the scene portraying underwater and above water scenes including lotus leaves and buds, Mandarin Ducks, fish, birds, & insects intermingled in a a very charming composition - note the goldfish and their expressions. Upper Ruyi border of pale yellow and green, with lower lappet border of green, yellow and brick orange.
The inside has three larger goldfish swimming amongst lotus leaves and pond weed.
Condition is excellent.
Qianlong dynasty seal mark stamped in red on the underside.
Early Peoples Republic period.
This is one of the nicest and most eye catching planters / jardinieres we have seen in some while!
