The hardcover book with linen covered boards, embossed cover and spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Verlag M. Dumont Schauberg, Koln in collaboration with Harry N. Abrams, Inc. Publishers New York, printed in Germany in 1971, authored by Hans L.C. Jaffe in german language text. It features a monograph survey of the Modernist artwork of the artist Piet Mondrian.

Piet Mondrian ( 1872 - 1944 ) was a Dutch born Modernist Abstract painter and art theorist, he is considered to be one of the most important and influential Modern artists of all time. He evolved a non representational form which he termed Neoplasticism. Influenced by Cubsim, the early Modernist geometric art works were considered quite avant garde for the time in which they were created. Artworks by Mondrian are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The rare out of print 1st edition large format hardcover Modernist art book measures 10" W X 13" H X 1 1/8" D, with 146 pages. It features 137 illustrations including 48 beautiful hand tipped lithograph print plates in full color.
