This " The PaineWeber Art Collection " rare vintage 1995 first edition large hardcover Modernism art book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover art book with black linen covered boards, embossed cover and spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Rizzoli International Publications Inc. New York, printed in Japan in 1995. It features a survey of Modernist artworks from The PaineWeber Company collection, with compelling accompanied commentaries on the artworks by Monique Beudert and Jennifer Wells, foreword by Donald B. Marron, and introduction by Jack Flam, book design by Pentagram Design.
The PaineWeber art collection, housed in the PaineWeber investment banking offices in New York City, is home to one of the greatest private collections of Contemporary Art. Never before publicly exhibited or published, this private collection offers a remarkable survey of international art of The 20th Century. The collection is strikingly Avant-Garde and represents work in all media, including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, and sculpture.
This volume encompasses more than 350 works of art, many never before published. Each work is accompanied by a companion text that serves to contextualize the art and the artist. PaineWeber's collection is founded on the idea that art should be accessible as possible in everyday circumstances. This book brings together this unprecedented collection into a distinguished catalogue of work, accessible to the public for the first time.
The book includes artworks of more than 160 influential Twentieth Century artists including Georg Baeselitz, Jean Michel Basquiat, Francesco Clemente, Chick Close, Richard Diebenkorn, Willem De Kooning, Eric Fischl, Helen Frankenthaler, Lucian Freud, Phillip Guston, Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Anselm Kiefer, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Longo, Brice Marden, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, Gerhard Richter, James Rosenquist, Susan Rothenberg, Edward Ruscha, Richard Serra, Cindy Sherman, Kiki Smith, Frank Stella, Wayne Thiebaud, Cy Twombly, and Andy Warhol, among many others.
The rare out of print 1st edition large format hardcover art book measures 10 1/2" W X 12" H X 1 1/4" D, with 304 pages, featuring 369 illustrations.
