Created in France during the last quarter of the 19th century at a time when the Impressionists when roaming the countryside for inspiration, this work table, called a patisserie table, was used by a baker to make pastries (called patisseries in French). Showcasing a nearly square top, a recent addition made of stone imitating the effects of marble and granite, the table is raised on an eye-catching scrolling base. Painted in white with nicely distressed patina, the legs present elegant volutes mounted on casters, connected to one another through a simple cross stretcher with brass medallions on the sides. Boasting a weathered appearance revealing its great use and nice age, this French painted iron and stone top patisserie table circa 1890 will make for a great addition to any home, perhaps used in a kitchen!
