Acrylic on canvas painting by Jamaican artist Elpedio Robinson, depicting a timeworn two-story building with shuttered windows and weathered textures. Bathed in warm earthy tones, the work captures the rustic charm and fading grandeur of traditional Caribbean architecture. Overhead power lines and a muted sky add to the nostalgic atmosphere, evoking themes of memory, heritage, and resilience.

ARTIST STATEMENT
The process of creating is a most gratifying experience. Transforming a white canvas into an embodiment of my thoughts, experiences or commentaries in a way that connects with another human being is priceless ethereal. This process is not encumbered by preconceived ideas but driven by a visceral loyalty to the creative impulses. The choice of palettes, techniques or style is dictated solely by the creative impulse and not by what is in vogue.
I instinctively avoid angst in my paintings and surrender rather to the more idyllic creative process. This, however, does not mean my work is void of profundity. Therefore, painting a figure, house, flower, children playing, still life or landscape is never about the skillful rendering of their forms. It's more about their capacity to manifest a deeper creative expression or thought. The palettes and forms are parts of the manifestation of the creative impulse rather than a premeditated choice on my part I am just a servant of the creative process.
The creative force is so vast and complex that it can not be embodied in any one form or style. As a matter of fact, it defies the hegemony of style. Thus, my work is a composition of disparate elements and styles. I arrived at this position through an artistic time travel to the beginning and back to the present. The circle that appears in my work is significant of my journey from the beginning, back to the present. It also signifies how life progresses: not in a linear manner but in a circular manner. This gives credence to the thought that there is nothing new under the sun, only new people doing what has already been don
