Original 1960 maximilian rasko (1883-1961) 'flower pots in the window with heart shutters' oil painting
this is just a great original piece. This is the second painting I have had by maximilian rasko in the last couple of years. The previous example was a portrait for which he is more known for. I like this one a whole lot better. In fact, of all the paintings I have seen by the artist, I think this might be one of his nicest. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included his biography below. This is a stunning view of 3 pots of flowers sitting on the windowsill of a home with heart cut out shutters and a wonderful picket fence. Really just a beautiful work. Oil on canvas board measuring 20 x 16 inches. Signed and dated lower left corner. Really stunning clean and fresh painting. Wonderful original frame is complimentary and ready to hang. A few minor chips but nothing too bad. Really a great presentation. Frame measures 27 1/4 x 23 1/4 inches.
For those not familiar with the artist, his biography from askart reads: "maximilian rasko was born in 1883 in budapest, hungary. He studied at the royal academy in munich, germany, the dresden academy of design and painting in transylvania, the normal school in budapest, the académie julian in paris, the academy of fine arts in vienna, and the academy of fine arts in rome. Rasko was a portrait painter, teacher, lecturer, and graphic artist. He was a member of the audubon artists, where he exhibited in budapest in 1903 (prize). In addition, rasko exhibited at the international exposition in boradeaux in 1927 (prize), the civil order of merit in bulgaria, the little cross of portugal, and the cross from ordinis sanctae maria de bethlehem in 1951, commendatorem gratia in 1952. Rasko also received a senior citizenship certificate from governor harriman in 1958 in new york. Rasko's work can be found in the national democratic club of the us treasury dept. In washington d.C., The vatican in rome, italy, and the phillips exeter academy in exeter, new hampshire. His portrait of louis kossuth was printed on a u.S. Stamp in 1958. Rasko also illustrated the mysteries of the rosary. Rasko died in 1961 in spring valley, new york."
