Original frederich cantor (1944-2010) 'west 11th street new york' photograph
this is just a great original piece. This is one of two original frederich cantor photographs that I acquired recently. His photographs rarely come to market, particularly his early architecture photos like this one. For those not familiar with the photographer I have included his biography below. 'West 11th street, new york 1974" photograph. Outstanding new york city architecture in shadows gelatin silver photograph. Image measures 5 x 7 inches. Taped verso into original matte. Signed, title and dated bottom of matte. Small spots on original matte. Kulicke wood frame measures 14 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches. A great example of the artists architecture work.
For those not familiar with the artist, his biography from a gallery that sells his artwork reads: "fredrich cantor was a painter and photographer who produced black-and-white and color images of people and landscapes. He was born in new york and studied at the pratt institute in brooklyn, new york (1962-64, 1966-67), at san francisco art institute (1966), at cooper union in new york city (1969) and at art students' league in woodstock, new york (1962, 1963). He photographed individuals such as wilson pickett, james brown, werner herzog, david lynch, bette davis, and harrison ford for newspapers and magazines including rolling stone "
