Bring elegant neoclassical style to a living room, dining room, hallway, or bedroom with this impressive pair of French Louis XVI style wall sconces. Crafted in France circa 1980, each tall giltwood fixture is crowned with a finely carved ribbon bow and trailing tassels, a classic motif associated with the Louis XVI period. The elongated fluted backplates terminate in stylized acanthus and foliate carvings, giving the pair a refined architectural presence ideal for framing a mirror, fireplace, or console.
Each sconce is fitted with three gracefully scrolled candle arms adorned with carved floral and leaf motifs, creating a balanced silhouette with strong decorative impact. The warm gilt finish has developed a rich, softly aged patina that enhances the carved details and gives the pair a more authentic antique character. Their generous height makes them especially desirable for rooms with tall ceilings or grand wall compositions.
The sconces are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and retain a beautiful luminous gilt finish throughout. Currently designed for candles, they may also be professionally wired if desired.
