This special book examines the similarities of three of the most influential artists of their respective generations - Austrian Expressionist Egon Schiele, American Postwar artists CY Twombly, and American Neo-Expressionist Jean Michel Basquiat. It shows how each artist's masterful, dynamic use of line was a central component of his artistic practice.

Many of the works have rarely been exhibited publicly - drawing out a dialogue between the art works and those of their predecessors. Whereby, each artist and his respective works illuminate each other. Schiele, Twombly, and Basquiat shared a radically intense artistic expression. In this convergence, a shared exploration of transcendence, the human condition and the logic of drawing and painting emerges.
