Woven in 1967 in the Nakhchivan region on the eastern border between Anatolia and the Caucasus, this monumental village kilim brings the bold geometry and natural-dye richness of classic Caucasian weaving into a contemporary interior. Handwoven for family use rather than export, its three large hooked medallions and layered borders create a powerful graphic statement that can easily anchor a generous living room, dining space or open-plan loft.
The design reads as strong and rhythmic without feeling overwhelming, thanks to the interplay of warm madder reds, terracotta field tones and cool denim blues. Natural-dye wool wefts on a sturdy cotton foundation give the piece both durability and a supple handle underfoot. In excellent vintage condition with only the subtle irregularities expected in a genuine handwoven kilim, it is professionally cleaned, odorless and ready to place in any room that calls for a dramatic yet authentic focal point.

✨ Color Palette & Design Insight
A bold, warm and welcoming palette that brings immediate character to large-scale spaces, working beautifully with wood, leather, linen and other natural materials in boho, eclectic, rustic and art-forward interiors. The strong contrast of field and borders makes it particularly effective under a main seating group or dining table.
• Dusty rose and soft terracotta tones forming the main field
• Rich madder red, coral and tangerine in the central medallions
• Stepped bands of denim and indigo blue with hints of sage and olive framing the motifs
• Warm ivory and buttercream in the inner guard stripes for brightness and clarity
• Mustard, goldenrod, pistachio green and teal accents enlivening the borders
• Deep brown and charcoal outlining that sharpens the geometry and grounds the whole composition
✨ Motifs & Symbolism
A chain of three large hooked diamond medallions runs down the center of the kilim, a classic Caucasian tribal motif associated with protection, strength and continuity along life’s path. Inside and around these forms, smaller diamonds and hexagons echo the protective eye and amulet, traditionally believed to safeguard the household. The surrounding field features stepped floral and fruit-like elements that suggest abundance and prosperity, while the borders repeat serrated leaf and bud shapes symbolizing growth and renewal. The dense yet orderly repetition of these motifs creates an energetic, celebratory feel that remains refined enough for gallery-style living and dining rooms.
