This is a truly lovely French jewelry / sewing box, dating from the mid 19th centry.
It has finely cut & intricate mother of pearl and silver inlay on top, front and sides. The back is plain.
All of the Rosewood veneer is present, with a rich deep color, has nice patina.
inside is a delight with a rich rose red padded lid.
A lift out silk coverd tray has various fitted storage compartments, under the tray is one open space.

There were, three missing of the round dot inlaid mother of pearl pattern in the top cover of the box they have been, replaced, / filled with a white material and overprinted with a slightly metallic paint. The rear left corner of the beaded border/band around the raised level on the cover has been replaced, see photos. The no key to the lock. There is some light age scratching/denting to the surface and edges of the box (miner). There is some wear to the lining along the interior of the box. Otherwise, the box is in very good condition. less
