This is a quite magnificent antique compote tazza or cake stand. Embellished with gilding, it has a pink & white transfer print of settlers heading West through the Rocky Mountains with Native Americans watching in the background. It sits proudly atop a pierced brass base /column. Their appears to be a makers mark under the plate where it is connected to the brass base. I can't make it out, but my sense is that this was made in England, late nineteenth century. This compote is sure to be the talk of your next dinner party - besides of course the cake or food you're actually serving on it!
Size: Plate 13" diameter / Base 5" diameter / 9 1/8" Height
