An antique framed J. Gould and HC Richter “Malurus Hypoleucus" or Fawn-breasted superb warbler chromolithograph print. The chromolithograph features a motif of floral and duo blue-hued warblers in a rustic wood frame; “Malurus Hypoleucus Gould" is seen at the center bottom of the print, and "J. Gould and H.C Richter del et lith” towards the lower left side corner. The series was originally published in London between 1849-1861. Comes ready with a metal strung wire on the back for easy wall hanging.
A brief history of the artist:
John Gould (1804-1881) is often considered the “Audubon of Great Britain” due to his well-known production of color plates of birds in the mid 19th century. Gould worked with other well-known print artists and colorists such as Henry Constantine Richter or HC Richter (1821-1902), who is featured on this particular work.
