moreThese three splendid serving pieces that BATTEN ROAD happily brings to your table will mix and match with your modern pieces with ease - and they are beauties. The pattern is "Wave of Rose" from the 1920s by the Edwin M Knowles China Co. It has a cream fine porcelain china body & cream glaze, decorated by bursting multi-colored rose bouquets banded with multi-colored scrolls and finished with fine details in gold. The large oval platter measures 11.5" x 8.5"; the smaller platter is 8.5" x 5.75" and the oval bowl is 9.25" x 7.25" x 2" tall. Marked and numbered on underside.
Produced in Chester, WV where they manufactured only the finest semi-vitreous ware. Critics lauded E.M. Knowles, who lead the company after he studied ceramics at what would become Alfred University by writing: "the weight is light, finish is the finest, its shapes graceful, its decorations artistic and its body and quality most durable". He kept up with the times and launched line after line, soon employing over 1000; women and men were paid equally for their skill level. E.M.Knowles died in 1948, with another ceramic grad replacing him. In 1962, after more than 100 years in business, they were forced to close. They were hit hard by lower tariffs meant to encourage the importation of foreign dinnerware at prices so low that E. M. Knowles could not be competitive. Hand wash only,no abrasive scrubbers.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
