Wonderful, acrylic on board- depicting biomorphic liquid forms in a depthless field of vibrant lurid colors. They call to mind the San Francisco, North Beach, and Mission district, the hippie fashion and psychedelic music prevalent in Haight Ashbury, and the work of Jim Nutt, Gladys Nilsson and Peter Saul, all of whom were in the Bay Area in the 1960s and 1970s.
Great decorative piece, that would enhance any interior.

Condition: Good original condition, vintage wear to the original wood frame of which offers a lot of character. Could be made to look perfect, we left untouched in original state.

Biography:
Peter Sword (1939-2018), the artist who made these fantastical, psychedelic, abstract, paintings, other than his long time residency in San Francisco’s bohemian North Beach neighborhood. He is said to have returned from the Vietnam War troubled by his experience and to have turned to art-making and drugs as a way of dealing with his anxiety.
