A tour de force of a neo-expressionist painting. This work is symbolic and contemporary, offering a bold, almost tribal visual. Klee was a revolutionary artist who used many techniques, some of his own invention. Berlin also follows on in the tradition of experimental art and this piece can be seen in the context of progression of techniques. It's brought the form into the contemporary, updating and theorising on how Klee would perhaps be painting if he was here today.
Oil and acrylic on canvas.
